We Shall Return (Kerstin Blodig) 1. One day in March when time stood still And life just froze to ice The city lights were turned down low And fate had rolled the dice when suddenly time stood still The town was dreaming in the chill In hibernation just before And Spring would call at every door We shall return Stronger than we’ve ever been Sweeter yet but still somehow More humble now Than in times before We shall return Voices raised in harmony Promise you that we shall be your company again…we shall return 2. One day we shall break through the ice A primrose through the soil in Spring With petals stretched towards the light A burst of colours bright One day we shall be back again The stage lights shining in the night The music rings up to the sky As we will start to fly Bridge Throughout the longest winter night Throughout the drought and storm Let’s keep the fires burning bright To see us through till dawn Your spirits shall break through the ice A primrose through the soil in Spring Your petals stretch towards the light A burst of colours bright

about

The Norwegian-German singer and guitarist is internationally regarded as one of the most important interpreters of Scandinavian and Celtic world-music. She has studied musicology, Scandinavian languages and cultures, with particular emphasis on Norwegian folk music. Today (except in Corona times) she tours internationally - including major festivals, studio recordings, and regular TV appearances - with a wide variety of different projects, including the Celtic bands Talking Water and Norland Wind. She cultivates her Norwegian roots in her solo performances, in the duo Kelpie (kelpie.band) with Scotsman Ian Melrose and in her pan-Scandinavian all-women trio Huldrelokkk (Huldrelokkk.com).

She has recorded, produced and co-produced 20 CDs with her various solo and group projects: the debut solo CD Valivann (Westpark Music) won the renowned German Critics Prize 2002. After the success of her solo albums Trollsang and Nordisk Sjel, she has recently released her fourth solo CD Out of the Woods on the prestigious audiophile label Stockfisch Records.
Being one of the finest women guitarists in the acoustic scene today, she is official endorser of Gibson Guitars.
„Blodig impressed us with one of the most expressive voices ever heard“ Glåmdalen (N)

Together with her musical partner in Kelpie, the renowned Scottish guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Ian Melrose (ianmelrose.com), they spent the Corona-times working at and recording new material – as can be heard in the song “We shall Return”, a positive hymn dedicated to all their audiences and a promise to be back on stage soon.
Guest musicians to be heard on this track are the British singer-songwriter Trevor B. Lewis, the American singer-songwriter Mckinley Black as well as German singer-songwriter Christina Lux, Celtic fiddle-virtuoso Gudrun Walther of the award-winning Irish band Cara, and two leading lights of the Berlin country-scene, Doreen & Maik Wolter (duo Jamestown Ferry).
