Melodi: Trad efter Ossian Eklund, Västbyn Offerdal

Pila-Brita’s Schottis was a popular tune at the beginning of
the 20th century. This version is from the playing of fiddler
and carpenter Ossian Eklund (1904-1993) from Västbyn in the
district of Offerdal, Jämtland. Pila-Brita properly called Brita
Andersdotter, was from Hälsingland. She was considered a
crafty woman, closely connected to the Hälsinge Gang, who
ran speakeasies, supplied men with sexual services and kept
the district provided with spirits.
